Gold price calculator Egypt

What you pay for gold in Egypt by karat and workmanship, and what you get back if you sell. You type today's price; everything is calculated on your device.

The selling price from any price list today, without workmanship. We don't store a price because it changes every day.
Ask the shop. A market example: about EGP 150 a gram for 21K and 200 for 18K (Banker, September 2026); each shop sets its own.
Shops buy from you below their selling price, by about EGP 20–50 a gram.
In shortIn Egyptian price lists 18K is priced at 21K × 18/21 and 24K at 21K ÷ 0.875. You pay the gold value plus workmanship (VAT 14% applies to workmanship only), and when you sell you get weight × the shop's buying price: workmanship never comes back. A gold pound is 8 g of 21K.

Karats and the gold pound in numbers

How it is calculated

Gold value = weight × the gram price for the karat, and what you pay = gold value + weight × workmanship. The 14% VAT is charged on workmanship only, not on the gold itself.

When you sell, the shop pays weight × its buying price on the day, and the workmanship you paid is lost. That is why worked jewellery loses more on a quick sale than bars and gold pounds, which carry lower workmanship. If you buy gold as savings, compare workmanship first, and see the zakat calculator for savings gold.

This calculator does not show today's gold price: you type it from a price list you trust. The hallmark fee is usually included in the workmanship the shop quotes; ask, and get everything written on the invoice.

FAQ

How is the 18K gram price worked out from 21K?

Multiply the 21K price by 18 ÷ 21 (× 0.857). If 21K is EGP 6,000, 18K is about EGP 5,143 a gram before workmanship.

How many grams is a gold pound?

8 grams of 21K. Its list price is 8 × the 21K gram price, plus a small workmanship charge from the shop.

Do I get the workmanship back when I sell?

No. You get weight × the buying price on the day; the workmanship and the VAT on it are gone.

Is there tax on gold in Egypt?

VAT of 14% on workmanship only, not on the value of the raw gold.
